With this project, we are developing an intelligent, optical inspection station for sprockets used in our tube chain conveyor.
Inspection processes that were previously manual, physically demanding, and heavily influenced by subjective judgement will in future be carried out in a semi-automated, software-supported manner. The goal is to make quality control more objective, more ergonomic, and significantly more efficient. Using modern image processing and digital inspection templates generated directly from CAD data, form, position, dimensional, and presence features can be checked with high precision.
This reduces misjudgements, prevents downstream costs, and increases process reliability.
The new inspection solution enables reliable classification of sprockets.
At the same time, automated documentation ensures complete traceability of inspection results.
Through direct integration with the company’s ERP system, inspection data is stored, statistically analysed, and, if required, fed back to purchasing or production.
In doing so, the project lays the foundation for a future-oriented quality standard and the sustainable further development of incoming goods inspection at Schrage.
